Once again I will attempt to write my life down and all the odd occurances. Through it all I hope you can find my twisted sense of humor somewhat...humorous.

The Scooter Dilemma

Last Friday Tina, Chuck, Abbey, Jenny, and I were walking around the Park avenue festival and we were approached by a young girl who was apparently working for a new scooter shop that is opening here in Rochester. They had a display set up with four or five of the scooter models that they will be offering. Since my first trip to Europe I have always had a thing for Vespa scooters. I don't know why, maybe the whole retro look, but I really want one. Well, I haven't seen or heard of any shops around this area that carry Vespas, so I had basically just given the idea of owning one up and chalked it up to a dream. Anyway, one of the scooters they offered is a Kymco People 50. This model looks very similar to a Vespa, but it has larger wheels which is one thing I really like about it.

The price for one of these is really reasonable, and from what I have read these scooters get about 85-100 mpg. With rising gas prices, this becomes a major selling point. I hesitate though because a) I am 6'4" tall, b) I might look like one of those clowns in the circus that rides the teeny tiny bicycle, and c) I don't know what Rochester's laws are on scooters. It would really suck to get one and find out that I couldn't even ride it on the road. I understand that I wouldn't be able to take it on the highway (the top speed is around 50mph), but it would be nice for puttering around town. I think that most likely I will end up getting one. I just have to do some more research.
